Shadowed by a web of unrealistic parental demands, Martha Ann Williams, the beautiful daughter of an East Texas farmer; Will Reeves, the self-driven son of a mill worker from Minnesota; and Charles Smith, the oldest son of a migrant worker from The Valley in South Texas are forced to put their own youthful dreams on hold.

These dreams are dormant and unfulfilled as they sacrifice to help the families they leave behind.

Years later, through a chain of violent acts, their lives become intertwined with potentially tragic results.
